Adult participants learn life skills over an 18-24 month period. Trained staff teach educational modules that cover menu planning, cooking, laundry, cleaning, money management, hygiene, communication, how to access community resources, transportation routes, developing social/leisure activities. Under supportive supervision participants practice the skills they have learned.
The program includes regular assessments that help tailor supports to the participant’s skill development. Living in a supportive environment like the BRIDGE program enables participants to gain the confidence and experience needed to transition into living on their own.
